Compliance With O.C.G.A. § 10-1-359.1

Pursuant to Georgia law, secondary metals recyclers who purchase regulated metal property in any quantity must register with the appropriate Sheriff’s Office. Recyclers must register in each county where they maintain a place of business. For individuals or sole proprietors residing in Georgia, registration must be completed in the county of residence.

Download the registration form below or visit the Crawford County Sheriff's Office to obtain a physical copy.

Submit in Person

Complete and submit the registration form in person to the Sheriff’s Office. Applications submitted by mail or third parties will not be accepted.

Mandatory Application Materials

Your application must include the following:

  • Non-Refundable Registration Fee: $200 (check or money order payable to Crawford County Sheriff's Office).
  • Background Check Fee: Up to $75 for new agents or expired registrations.
  • Identification: Valid state-issued ID.
  • Business License: Current Occupational Tax Certificate (if required).
  • GBI/LEADS Online Number: Customer ID number from the database contractor.
  • Citizenship Status: Secure and verifiable documentation for citizenship or qualified alien status.

Fees & Expiration

Fee Schedule Summary

Registrations issued beginning January 1st will expire on December 31st of the same year. Failure to register is a misdemeanor of a high and aggravated nature. Fees are non-refundable, and returned checks are subject to a $30 service charge.
